Urticaria/Hives

Urticaria is the medical term for hives.   Allergy testing in patients who have chronic hives is not generally recommended but limited laboratory testing may be indicated.  The duration of the individual hives is a key determining factor in the workup.  This topic has been described extensively elsewhere.
