Office Flex Spending Prescription Policy

Dear Patient:

New IRS rules require you to obtain a prescription for FSA reimbursement of over the counter medications.  We will honor requests for this prescription if it is at the time of your visit and is a medication that we recommend for  you.  However, due to the administrative burden on our staff we cannot do so at other times.  You should also know that suitable generic substitutes for common allergy prescriptions are available at very low cost (less than $30 for a year supply):
Generic Zyrtec:  On Amazon.com or at local pharmacies
Generic Claritin: On Amazon.com or local pharmacies

Low cost generic or even brand name proton pump inhibitors are also available online (at Amazon and elsewhere) including Prevacid, Prilosec (omeprazole) and Zegerid.
